Academy Productions

The NC Acting and Theatre Performance (Musical Theatre) students performed to a sold out audience in their final cabaret performances in the Drama Studio. The cabaret’s were entitled 'SING! SING! SING!’ We strongly believe at Knox Academy that the foundations of good musical theatre is Acting and this was the emphasis for their cabarets… Acting through song.

Seven Solo singers entertained the audience in a terrific evening of Musical Theatre. Each pupil wrote their cabaret's themselves,  with help from Mr Campbell and Ms Whitfield, and linked their dialogue with 3 songs from a variety of musicals including; 'The Last 5 Years', 'Les Miserables', 'Company', 'Whistle Down the Wind' and 'Edges'. Each pupil was accompanied by Miss Orr or Miss Brown.

There wasn't a dry eye in the house after the last singer sung. Well done to all involved. Look out for more details of their final productions in June.

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street!

Academy Productions had a wonderful time producing 'Sweeney Todd' this year at Knox Academy. We changed the script to make it bigger and added a Greek Chorus of Sweeney Todd dead victims who intimidated the audience throughout the evening performances with their ‘dead’ like walking and stares.

The pupils involved in the Knox Academy Make-Up Course had done a wonderful job creating a gothic look for the actors. There was blood, guts and gore aplenty as Sweeney Todd killed his victims. With over 50 pupils involved; on and off stage, this was a fantastic production to show the public the wonderful talent we have here at Knox Academy.

Meat pie anyone?

The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe

The Glee Club

The Knox Academy Show Choir (or Glee Club as it is now known) is on a Thursday lunchtime in the school hall.  We are a group with a difference; we sing, dance and act our way through a variety of hits from stage, screen and tops of the pops!  Open for pupils in all year groups we aim to have nothing but fun.

The Glee Club made it's National premiere on BBC 5 Live with Gaby Logan on the 9th Feburary 2010.  We performed Live on the radio after being interviewed by Gaby Logan herself.

You can hear the interview and the Glee Club singing below.
