Local Community

Working and engaging with the local community has been part of the School Development Plan since 2009/2010. We are now in Year 3 of the plan.

The Technology Faculty has overall responsibility for the delivery of the plan.

We want to:

• Improve links with the local community
• Improve the local community’s perception of the school and its work

What we have done:

• Mr Flood and S6 representative attend Haddington Community Council meetings
• Survey on how the school is perceived by the local community
• Calendar of school-community events eg ecolife event, business question time
• Used Knox News to thank local businesses for their support
• Developed strong links with Haddington Business Association
• Float at Haddington Festival

This session we aim to:

• Continue with participation in Haddington Festival, with pupil committee
• Establish a programme of S6 Service in the Community
• Community page on school website
• School-community noticeboard in Social Area and at the front of the school
• Offer Heartstart to pupils/staff/community
• Introduce Community awards
• Introduce Community assemblies
