S5/6 Curriculum
Courses offered in the Senior School may change according to demand and resources. All courses in the senior school are National Qualifications. Pupils successfully completing a course in S5 should consider taking a more advanced course in S6. All fifth year pupils are expected to study English and have a full timetable of five courses.
The Scottish Qualifications Authority certificates all courses.
All pupils in S6 are expected to broaden their experiences by undertaking a work placement,
The timetable includes one period per week of Personal and Social Development (which includes extensive career advice and guidance). In S5 PE and RME are on a rotation to ensure that every pupil gets at least 30 minutes of physical activity every week. The school is currently deciding how to provide the requisite amount of physical activity in the upper school.
The majority of pupils complete a sixth year before entering Further or Higher Education; training or employment.
