Personal Reading

Do you need some ideas?  Here's what S1s and S2s recommend:

"I recommend that first years read "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" and the "Series of Unfortunate Events" by L Snickett (Choice is yours - they're all great!)  Also the "Twilight" series and "The White Giraffe". " Rebecca Smith, 1L1

"I'd say the "Immortals" series include a few of the best books I've ever read.  The first book is called "Evermore", and is a really great book.  I think that the last "Harry Potter" book is probably the best book I've ever read.  You would have to start with the first one, "The Philosopher's Stone", then read up to "The Deathly Hallows", but all the books are great." Riona Bruce, 1L1

"My favourite book ever is "Kenzuke's Kingdom" just because of the excitement of being stuck on an island for months with an old Japanese man who won't let you use a smoke signal or swim away or build a raft or anything.  Kenzuke's the old man stuck on the island who misses his family too.  This book was written by Michael Morpurgo." Frazer Pennycuick, 1L1

"The best book ever for me would be "The Smallest Girl" in the World".  I read it when I was eight years old and I still think it's a funny and good read."  Victoria Smith, 1L1

"I haven't read a book in a while but I started the "The Butterfly Lion" on Monday and finished it this morning.  It was fascinating and every time I had a spare moment I'd pick it up and read it." Anonymous, S2

"If you're into vampires, werewolves and that kind of thing then "Sisters Red" is a good book for you.  I loved it." Rosalie Betts, 2T1
