SQA Exam Support
Some pupils with identified additional support needs fit the criteria that the SQA use to allow support in examinations. This support does not give the candidate an unfair advantage in the examinations, it merely is: the least support necessary to remove barriers to demonstrating ability
SQA require that the support reflects the candidate’s normal way of working in classes and in tests.
For any pupil who meets the SQA criteria for support in examinations, we have to gather evidence from each subject area that the arrangement we are requesting makes a ‘significant difference’ to the candidate’s marks in that subject.
It is quite possible, given the SQA requirements, that a candidate will need arrangements in place for some subjects, but not for others, and that the arrangements will vary from subject to subject.
You can check out the SQA examination arrangements guidelines on the SQA website and follow the links to assessment arrangements.
