Rugby

Rugby has traditionally been a well represented sport at Knox Academy and again has been awarded the Rugby Champions Gold Award this year. The school now fields an S1/S2 team, and enters the U15 and U18 National Cups. This year Knox Academy has also tried to boost its girls participation and currently has girls training throughout the year with a number of girls attending East Lothian festivals.

Knox Academy has developed strong links with Haddington Rugby Club and their Club Development Officer (Scott Marnoch) helps run the extra-curricular training and matches and is involved with the curricular coaching.

Training: Mondays & Wednesdays 4 pm - 5.30 pm

News Flash:

Knox Academy has been awarded the Rugby Champions Gold Award for the 3rd year in a row.

This has been awarded due to the amount of players playing rugby through the school. Knox Academy fielded S1 and S2 teams in core fixtures and Youth Games, has an U15 and U18 team playing in the National Schools Cup and has a small group of girl players who train regularly and attend local festivals.

New Haddington RFC Club Development Officer, Scott Marnoch, had been instrumental in increasing participation in rugby at Knox since his recent appointment. Scott helps coach the S1/S2 & girls squads, and is now also running skill development sessions for U15, U16 and U18 players at Knox during Tuesday and Thursday lunchtimes.

Hopefully the great work Scott and the other coaches are doing can help Knox rugby continue to increase in popularity and quality.
