Mobile Phone

Following consultation with parents, pupils and staff a policy on mobile phones came into effect in August 1999.  In the light of experience and feedback from parents the amended policy is detailed below.

Thank you for your support in this matter and we hope you will continue to support us by drawing the details of the policy to your youngster’s attention.

Please forward feedback/comments to the school.

Thank you for your co-operation.

Mobile Phone Policy

  • Pupils should not bring a mobile phone into school unless a letter outlining a genuine concern has been received by the Head Teacher from a parent/guardian.
  • There will be a register of all such phones in our School Office.
  • All registered phones must be handed into the School Office before registration each day where they will be kept in a secure place.
  • Each pupil authorised to have a mobile phone in school will be issued with a numbered card, which will be exchanged for the phone
  • Phones must be collected at 4 pm and should not be left overnight.  Pupils will not be allowed out of class early to collect phones.
  • Pupils found to be in possession of a mobile phone will be challenged resulting in the phone being passed to a Depute Head Teacher until the end of the school day.
  • The school will not be held responsible for lost, damaged or inappropriately used phones; the responsibility lies with the owner.
  • This privilege will expire at the end of the session.  Thereafter, a further request, in writing, must be lodged with the Head Teacher.
