In the Mathematics Department we have worked very hard over the last two years to develop our teaching methods to support genuine understanding of Maths.

To that end I'd like to offer you the chance to be part of a series of virtual meetings where we will go through some of the methods we use in S1 (and build on in S2, S3, etc) and how we try to put it across to our classes.

Hopefully this insight will help de-mystify what we do in the Maths Department and open up a positive dialogue at Home about the Maths being learned - no more arguments because "it wasn't taught like that in my day!".

East Lothian Council's Instrumental Music Service was delighted to present their first ever Digital Concert on Thursday 8 October 2020.

They were very excited to be able to come together again that evening for a virtual performance to perform a musical piece by our extremely talented Instrumental Instructor, Liz Woodsend.

It was an incredible opportunity for our young people to collaborate with our new friends from RAF Music over the last month. RAF Music prepared webinars for our young musicians and over the last week we have enjoyed live Google Meets sessions with these inspiring professional musicians. It has been fantastic to be able to have the young people come together again to share their passion for music.

The Mathematics Department are delighted to offer lunchtime Supported Study every Tuesday and Wednesday. Pupils should bring their lunch with them and arrive prompt to get the most out of the available time.

We have scheduled topic specific revision each week which is designed to support pupils to 'pace' their revision as we work towards the important Prelim Exams. This is in addition to the weekly home learning tasks we set.

You can find the calendar of details here.

Also included in the calendar are our excellent '4 Question Challenges' which should support pupils self-assessment of their own learning needs.

As our last video got a good response, we decided to put together another one. We also wanted to thank those volunteering to support the vulnerable in our communities, for continuing their amazing work.  Thank-you.

Take care and stay safe
