Faculty News: Social Subjects

Several documents have been added to the S1 Business & IT section of the school website to give parents/carers a greater idea of what is offered within the course.

Also available is the template for Business News Homework to support pupils as they structure their responses.  We welcome Business News homework presented in different formats, not necessarily using the template sheet provided. Each pupil should provide a level of detail which challenges themselves.

Once again our S1 pupils have not disappointed and have been a credit to themselves!

Over the last few weeks they have been working in Business & IT to plan the launch of their own Deli.  This has involved considering brand names, logos, and choosing a suitable location.  Each group carried out market research on potential product ideas from a suggested range of Soups, Sandwiches and Smoothies.  Product labels were designed, and consideration to suitable packaging.  Promotional material was created including business cards and flyers, with a view to their display at their 'stall'.

Each group was asked to deliver a short presentation to invited parents and guests on their allocated day.

Thanks to everyone who was able to come along or passed on their best...

Candidates sitting Higher Administration & IT have known about this date (provisionally) for several months, but it can now be confirmed that they will sit their 2-hour practical assignment on Wednesday 20 March 2019 from 1.30 pm.

Full attendance is essential as the SQA collect these for marking soon after this time.

It is expected that candidates will spend considerable time after-school within the Business Education Department before this date for additional support on their practical work to maximise opportunities for marks.  The assignment is worth 70 marks, with the theory exam in May being worth 50 marks.
