On Monday, 60 S3 pupils studying History and/or Geography undertook an excursion to Glasgow. They visited the Transport Museum, People’s Palace and Clydebuilt. All the pupils were praised by the museum staff, who commented that they were well behaved, polite, listened well and asked excellent questions. Indeed, the guide in charge at Clydebuilt could not praise the pupils highly enough and was so impressed the group was taken out to the pontoons to have a good look along the river and the pupils saw a Royal Navy Destroyer that is being built. Congratulations to all involved and many thanks to Ms McPhee and Ms Jeffrey for organising the trip.
During the week, pupils have been rehearsing and undertaking Drama practicals as part of the assessment of courses. These will continue next week. So far these have gone very well and I am sure the pupils were pleased with their performances.
On Thursday we held an Information Evening about course choices for the parents and carers of S2 pupils. The evening was well attended and I hope the parents and youngsters found the event helpful.
Also on Thursday, senior pupils, accompanied by Mr Flood and Mr Dempster, had a successful time at the Young Enterprise Awards. Amongst the awards made to Knox were Best HR Director: Phillippa Jackson, Best IT Director: Andrew Wright and Best Business Idea: Knox Team Rise. Congratulations to all the pupils involved and to Mr Flood who was awarded a ‘Long Service’ Certificate for his contribution to enterprise education.
As we approach the summer examinations, the pressure is on the pupils in S4/5/6 to complete course work, NABs and to study even harder. There will be a full Easter Revision programme and revision clubs are available at lunchtimes and after school, I would encourage all the pupils to access these.
Next week will be busy with concert rehearsals, the Spring Concert itself on Wednesday evening and a fun packed last day of term. Term finishes on Thursday 1 April at 4 pm and the new term begins on Tuesday 20 April at 8.44 am.
Best wishes for the spring break,
JB Craig
