This is an event to promote eco-friendly living and will include:

  • Swap in the City - a clothing, book, computer game and DVD exchange where you can bring in unwanted items and swap them for something you would like!
  • an Eco Fashion Show featuring clothes from local charity shops
  • Eco arts and crafts stalls

 

We look forward to welcoming you there!

Books Reading And Writing Awards 2010 are looking for keen readers [S1-4] to be judges in this years awards.

As a judge you will be asked to read three books between now and Christmas, you will also write a small review for each book and discuss books with your fellow judges at a break time convenient to all. Participating pupil judges will then vote for their favourite book. Knox Academy's winner from the shortlist will then go against the favourite of other participating Scottish schools, with the overall winner announced in February 2011.

The awards run by Scottish Book Trust and sponsored by Royal Mail are in their fifth successful year and grow in strength each year.

The shortlisted titles for secondary pupils are:

Crossing the Line by Gillian Philip

Grass by Cathy MacPhail

and

The Witching Hour by Elizabeth Laird

The PE Department are currently trialing self evaluation with their S1 pupils. This will give pupils the opportunity to understand the strengths and weaknesses in their performance and enable them to set targets for improvement in S2.

The focus of the evaluations will be Rugby and Hockey

The East Lothian Young Chef Competition took place on Friday 1 October, at Knox Academy, where S3 and S4 pupils from five of East Lothian's secondary schools competed for the title. 

The winners this year were Shannon McLauchlan and Kerri Scambler from Knox Academy who created a fantastic dish of Chicken Feuilletes with Celeriac Bake, followed by Steamed Blackberry and Apple Pudding with Crème Anglaise which was greatly enjoyed by the judges.

The winners will enjoy a day of work experience at the Waterside Bistro where they will have their winning dish on the menu for the day.
