East Lothian Council is in the process of developing a new Anti-Bullying Policy in line with the Scottish Government's national approach to anti-bullying for Scotland's children and young people.

Bullying is defined as 'a mixture of behaviours which can impact on a person's capacity to feel in control of themselves. This is what we term as their sense of 'agency'. Bullying takes place in the context of relationships; it is behaviour that can make people feel hurt, threatened, frightened and left out' .

More information on bullying and what to do in response to bullying is available at:

To have your say follow the following links which are taken from the East Lothian Council - Anti-bullying Consultation Portal.  The surveys close on 14 October 2016.

There is a mathematics outreach event being organised by the University of Edinburgh’s School of Mathematics which some of you may be interested in attending.

This event, called the Edinburgh Maths Circle, is a free drop-in session where children aged 5 to 16 and their families can join in with exciting mathematical activities, games and puzzles. Students and members of staff from the School of Mathematics will be on hand to help out, and tea, coffee and juice will be provided.

After the success of our first Maths Circle in May, we have arranged another for Saturday 10th September 2016, from 09:30 until 12:30, in the James Clerk Maxwell Building at the University of Edinburgh's King's Buildings campus. Feedback from the previous Maths Circle has been taken into account, and they are aiming to make the event bigger and better than before, with more space and new activities.
