This session at Knox Academy, one of our priorities is to work with families, parents and carers to help raise ambition and attainment. This involves the development of a Family Learning Programme and also the creation of an effective Home Learning Policy.

To support this work, we would really value your opinion on homework in terms of frequency, value and your current experiences. Please take just a few minutes to complete a short questionnaire. Access to the questionnaire is via a password protected page. This password will be sent to parents/carers via a text message. Many thanks in advance for your time and views.

The teenage years can often feel like being on a rollercoaster for parents, carers and young people – plenty of highs, lows and uncertainty about what might be round the corner! The many physical, emotional and behaviour changes that occur mean that adolescence can be a time of vulnerability as well as a time of great opportunity for young people.

Knox Academy is offering a six-session course to give you an opportunity to explore with other parents how the teenage years can be a time for the whole family to ‘thrive rather than just survive.

More details can be found in the Raising Teens With Confidence letter to be issued to S1-S4 pupils on Tuesday morning at registration.

An EMA (Education Maintenance Allowance)  is a weekly payment of £30 paid directly to eligible students who are continuing in post-compulsory education (i.e. beyond the age of 16). Summer leavers ( those born between 1 March 1998 and 30 September 2001) will now have received a pack inviting them to submit their application. We need to receive the completed application into our office by 30 September 2017 – any awards received after this date will not be backdated until the start of term.

Winter leavers, remaining at school who will be eligible for an award from January, will be sent an application form directly by the team in late November. If you need an application form, these are available from the school office, by email from the EMA Department or online.
