Once again our S1 pupils have not disappointed and have been a credit to themselves!

Over the last few weeks they have been working in Business & IT to plan the launch of their own Deli.  This has involved considering brand names, logos, and choosing a suitable location.  Each group carried out market research on potential product ideas from a suggested range of Soups, Sandwiches and Smoothies.  Product labels were designed, and consideration to suitable packaging.  Promotional material was created including business cards and flyers, with a view to their display at their 'stall'.

Each group was asked to deliver a short presentation to invited parents and guests on their allocated day.

Thanks to everyone who was able to come along or passed on their best wishes. It was great to see so much support and to have another opportunity to speak with parents/carers.  One comment received mentioned how good it was to see skills in action across different curriculum areas.

This week the S1 evaluated their performances and they are now looking forward to starting a new topic in S2 Business & IT on Monday.

There are outbreaks of measles in the UK, Europe and the USA. Measles is very infectious but can be prevented with MMR vaccine.  MMR protects against mumps and rubella too.

NHS Lothian is inviting S1-S6 pupils who have not been vaccinated to clinics this summer term and in the holidays. Look out in the post for your clinic invitation.

Make sure to get vaccinated! Together we can stop the spread of measles.

The 123 service bus is a supported bus route tendered by East Lothian Council and operated by Eve Coaches the route will not initially be amended to the common school day changes starting on the 3 June 2019. The reason for this is the route is designed to allow people to travel to work, shopping and medical appointments in the first instance.

Transport Services understand out of catchment pupils from Gifford or Pencaitland use the service to travel back and forward to Knox Academy. The service is not designated as Home to school transport.

Transport Services will be conducting a Public Transport consultation starting in June to help shape the next Supported Services Tender, which is due to start 1 April 2020. The consultation will be done over various media methods:

  • Online consultation
  • Public meetings in Musselburgh, Tranent, Prestonpans, Haddington, North Berwick and Dunbar.
  • Attendance at Community Council meetings if requested
  • Comments by email and Flyer questionnaire

Anything that comes out of the consultation prior to the actual tender that is regarded, as being urgent maybe carried out under a change to the current registrations.
