What changes have taken place over the past couple of weeks?

  • House points can now be viewed directly under the Head Teacher's Update section - this should further promote inter-house challenge.  The chart is still visible (where it was and still is)  under the What's On section of the website.  The points totals should now be updated each weekend after the Pupil Points Reports are run on a Friday afternoon.
  • There is now a direct link to the Knox Parents site on the front page of this website - this should further assist in improving communications between the school and parents.  Minutes of the Parent School Partnership (Knox Parents) meetings have been brought up-to-date on this website, while also being available on the Knox Parents site itself.
  • Word clouds and other appropriate images have been added throughout the site to engage visitors and aid literacy skills.
  • Many of the information pages of the site have been brought up-to-date (work still needs to be done in this area - especially extra-curricular activities - of which there are many at Knox Academy).
  • Many publications can now be viewed directly on the website with the use of the popular Scribd service, this provides instant access to the information without having to download first.  However the facility to download and print is accessible as ever.
    • The most recent Interhouse Newsletters and Knox News are examples.
  • Very popular with the local community are our Christmas Boxes: photographs of which have been integrated into the news section of the website.
  • The initial structure of the Departmental pages has been created - this is an area for development with the participation of all departments in the school.  At the moment have a look at:
    • Chemistry: they plan to have a Molecule of the Month, Website of the Month and Interesting Fact of the Month.
    • Business Education:  Higher Business Management materials are in the process of being transfered onto this website - this includes class materials, useful Internet links to business articles and homework!  Revision Questions etc will follow.
    • Physical Education: Revision PowerPoints are available for Standard Grade.  These were published last year under the news section of the website.
  • The News and Head Teacher's Update section now have a monthly archive to aid accessiblility to previous postings.

Look forward to:

  • Word of the Week (with archive)
  • Weekly Sports News (with archive)
  • Regular Library Updates (with archive)

We're always interested in hearing from users of our website, what they like, what they don't like, what they think is missing....  If you have any suggestions for additions please contact us at knoxacademy@knox.elcschool...

Friday 8 January

Knox Academy will be open to both staff and pupils tomorrow - Friday 8 January.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back after an extended Christmas break. School resumes at 8.44 am.

The current transport position is that most buses will be running as normal. However, there will be only one bus leaving the centre of Gifford (No. 158). The services 157 and 159 to outlying areas will not be running. This position could change if the weather deteriorates, please continue to check the East Lothian Council website.

Please also continue to listen to Radio Forth if conditions deteriorate as they will be notified of any school closures.

Each year Knox Academy presents 'Christmas Boxes' filled with 'goodies' to members of the local community.

The theme this year for the Christmas Boxes was 'Disney' and once again all registration classes have excelled themselves by producing some wonderful boxes.

A massive thanks to all registration teachers for their encouragement to the pupils.  Special thanks to Mrs McInnes in her motivational role across all registration classes.

Haddington | Directory

As part of the Young Enterprise Programme, Team Rise are making great headway with their website.

We aim to promote the smaller businesses and better known ones in our town as well as creating a fantastic website for potential customers locally and further afar customers in Edinburgh.  Haddington | Directory has all the information you might need, ranging from detailed information on all of the products offered, to photos from each angle of the store.

Currently the website is complete with the Winter season’s businesses who have signed up.  Why not take a visit to a health and beauty salon you never knew existed, or browse through one of our gift stores for the perfect present?  We have a great range of shops grouped together on one website and we hope that there is something for everyone, whether your passion is sport or clothes or bathrooms!

Our website is www.haddingtondirectory.com and is waiting to be explored.

Each year Knox Academy presents 'Christmas Boxes' filled with 'goodies' to members of the local community.

This year's theme for the Christmas Boxes has been decided – Disney Christmas scenes.  This theme covers all Disney Christmas characters, films or memorable Christmas scenes.  All tutor groups are invited to take part in this interhouse competition.  We ask everyone to get involved in this worthwhile event to make this year bigger and better than last year!

Photographs from Christmas 2008 are shown below.  Last year the theme was "Pantomime".

Lets get creative!
