John McMillan, our Lord Provost, is doing a short talk to the Rotary on his visit to Aubigny at the Lamp Building on Thursday 28 September 2023. The event starts at 6.30 pm and there will be refreshments. If you are interested in attending, please give your name to Mr Flood.

RRSA (Rights Respecting Schools Award) will meet in RMPS (Mrs Montgomery's room) on Tuesday 25 September 2023 at 1.25 pm - everyone is welcome.

We have now achieved Bronze and are aiming for Silver.  Well done.  :-)

To celebrate the European Day of Languages, the Modern Languages Department has organized an outside speaker to come present to the entire year group. We will be welcoming a Language Project Coordinator from the Royal Zoological Society of Scotland (RZSS). This presentation links language learning to RZSS conservation projects across the world or to the conservation breeding programmes within RZSS sites. Our guest speaker will talk about her role, the role of languages within RZSS, and the the importance of languages for wider employment in many different careers. It will certainly be interesting and we are sure that Knox students will get a lot out of this presentation!

All S2 classes should come to the assembly hall on Tuesday 26 September 2023 during period 7, but only after registering with their classroom teacher.

The Writing Club is restarting! If you enjoy writing - all forms included! - please head up to Mr Welsh's room after school on Mondays, starting on the 25 September 2023. Bring yourself, a pencil, and your pals and help shape this club into something great!

We are looking for Equity Ambassadors for Knox Academy.

These individuals would help us with some initiatives to help the most vulnerable pupils and families in our communities.

Their role would include tasks such as setting up and running an essentials hub with free items for those who need them, assisting with the running of a breakfast club, advertising and raising awareness around the school and/or community, and bringing forward any new ideas/initiatives that could decrease the cost of the school day.

This is a great opportunity to demonstrate the Knox value of Community and make a real difference to people’s lives. The role also demonstrates to employers/universities that you are a compassionate, driven individual with good moral standings.

If you would like your N5 or Higher Art/ Photography folio back from the SQA you will have been sent an ipay reminder by email or text. If you have not had this reminder please see the office staff to be added.

You will need to pay £3.91 on ipay and we will then send a list of folios wanted to the SQA. This must be done by the 15 September 2023.

If you wish to make a personal request rather than get it back via the school you can do this via the SQA website yourself- by the 29th September. https://www.sqa.org.uk/onlinepayments/candidate-form

The folios will be sent back in November and you can then take them home. The cost is the same for Art and Photography. It covers both Art folios- design and expressive.

Want to try some of the good old GameCube classics such as Mario Kart: Double Dash!! or F-Zero GX? Come along! 

Due to the large number of people who wanted to attend last year there will be a limit of 12 people at a time. See Mr Balfour to sign up in room M1.11 (Computing). First come first serve! 

This year's Volunteering Fayre will take place on the morning of Friday 8 September in the Assembly Hall. All S3 - S6 pupils will attend over the course of the morning. This is a great opportunity to find out more about volunteering opportunities in the local community, and within the school. Any questions, please see Mr Flood.

Tempest Photography will be in school on Thursday 7 September 2023. 

Some S6 pupils do not have a current photograph on file eg primary school photograph, no photograph or photograph from another school. These individuals will be contacted by email separately with a dedicated time-slot. All other S6 pupils had the chance to have an updated photograph last session, when all students were photographed.

Since it is important that you get the opportunity to have a formal S6 photograph, while not unnecessarily disrupting your timetabled classes, you are asked to attend at one of the following times if you wish a photograph for your final year at Knox Academy.

You will also have the opportunity to purchase a formal school photograph and a range of gits from Tempest should you wish once the proofs arrive in school.

Please attend in immaculate school uniform at the requested times.

• a safe space for LGBT+ pupils
• a chance to voice any concerns around LGBT+ inclusion around the school and make positive changes
• a nice environment to relax and have fun!
