RUGBY: KNOX CLAIM ENGLISH SCALP

Knox Academy played touring team Worthing RFC at Neilson Park, the home of Haddington RFC, on Saturday 10th April and were convincing winners with a result of 108-5.

The match was well attended by parents and tourists and club president Andrew Cunningham welcomed the supporters and commented on the great standard of rugby that Knox Academy has shown and he looks forward to the boys joining the club next year.

This team has been very successful this year and have only losed on one occassion. The team has a fantastic support network of parents and hopefully they will move on with them when they start playing club rugby next year. A massive thanks has to go out to all parents for their support this year and in particular Leo Robertson for providing medical assistance on match days, Mr Ingram for keeping the match statistics, Mr Denholm for looking after the kicking tee, Mr Black for helping set up the pitch and the mothers (Munro, Mitchell and Stuart) for providing the players with refreshments.

On the field the players showed some great running rugby and farocious tackiling. The only thing that lets them down at times is everyone showing up! Man of the match was Harvey Blake who scored four tries and was closely followed by Mark Robertson and Paul McClung with three a piece. Captain Connor Monro scored two tries along with Neil Black and Lorne Black and Struan Stuart scored one each. Paul was on song with the kicking duties slotting thirteen from fifteen and Connor scored one from one (a very unusual sight!).

Good luck to the players and hopefully they can have some success at the Youth Games in May and next year in the U15 Brewin Dolphin Schools Cup.
