Transitions have been a huge success and it has been a joy to witness young people become more established and secure in our environment as their familiarity has increased. The addition of Mr Swanston to the team is very exciting and he brings with him knowledge, experience and enthusiasm. After our teacher meeting on Tuesday afternoon I reflected on how much we have progressed and that all those who have joined the Meadowpark team its emerging journey have done so with good grace, optimism and energy which is sending out  a positive message to pupils, parents and the wider community #whatwecando #wecandoit. I might as well state the obvious and get it out of the way…the weather has been appalling this week and I moved away from the West Coast of Scotland 30 years ago precisely because of the wet weather! It has been very frustrating forcing pupils to stay indoors, to witness rain seek out the smallest egress and create mayhem and hear the moans and groans about frizzy hair, sodden shoes and battered umbrellas.Read more here...Newsletter 14.06.19

A Visit to Meadowpark Provision... A social story

A secondary teacher friend from mainstream school commented this week that she could see the light at the end of the tunnel, meaning of course the summer holidays and I replied that I was sure it was there somewhere but I haven’t quite got sight of it yet. Having come from a primary background it took me a few years to work out why June was a quieter month in high schools: senior pupils have left and the new S1s don’t establish themselves until August so most secondary teachers are currently enjoying a slightly quieter phase. In fact this is something that we can use to our advantage when preparing Meadowpark pupils to attend subject classes in mainstream which a number have this week. I am so proud of those pupils who have managed classes in Knox and their sense of achievement and enjoyment is palpable.... read more here.

Taking a group to Dounans Outdoor Centre was an opportunity to see the majority of our young people at their very best. Young people who have such a very different take on life participated in team building activities, piled plates high with foods that had previously been banished by them and laughed. They dug into their own reserves for self-regulation by following comforting rituals and trusting that all of us there were on that journey together. Read so much more here...Newsletter 31.05.19
