Haddington New Beginnings Club are holdaing their 2nd Birthday Party on Saturday 9 February in the Corn Exchange 12 noon - 5 pm.

DRESS UP FRIDAY: UN DAY FOR CHANGE

On Friday (8 February) there will be a 'Dress Up' day to raise awareness of the UN Day for Change.

Both pupils and staff are encouraged to pay £1 to dress up as smartly as possible (there really is no limit...within reason).

The focus of the UN Day for Change this year is 'Food' so there will also be a Fair-trade cafe (organised by China Team 1) in RME1 at morning interval - fair-trade snacks, juice etc will be on sale.

Scottish Power Engineering Foundation Programme

The aim of the programme is to equip students with the skills and qualifications required to progress to an apprenticeship with Scottish Power. Training will take place at Edinburgh College, Dalkeith Campus with addition job-specific training at Scottish Power’s Cumbernauld training centre. This week has been one marked out by creativity.

I had the pleasure of discussing the Rotary Young Chef Competition with Findlay Wallace and Charlotte Smith at the beginning of the week.  Whilst they were not placed in this event, it was evident from what they told me that they had had fun and learned a lot from it.  The challenge of producing their two courses in an hour and a half was one that would have tested even a Master Chef contestant and they coped with it calmly and with good humour.
