KNOX PUPILS' SUCCESS IN CREATIVE WRITING COMPETITION

The Tyne and Esk Young Writer of the Year Competition

Last term a number of our pupils enjoyed creating their entries for this competition.  There were over500 entries from across Lothian, and we are particularly proud of four Knox students who were short-listed.

KNOX PUPIL MAKES THE LOCAL PAPER IN AUBIGNY

Sarah Muir shares her story with us...

 

This summer I was lucky enough to win the Alice Burnett Twinning scholarship. This meant that I was able to spend a month living and working in Haddington’s twin town: Aubigny sur Nère, in the Centre region of France. I lived with four different families, and did three weeks of work experience at the Tourist Information Office. After six years of studying French in school I was really excited to go to Aubigny and be properly immersed in the culture.

SWIMMING GALA

Joshua Nisbet and Ashleigh Lawson were representing Knox Academy at the Regional Disability Swimming Gala on Thursday morning at Dalkeith Campus.  They both did very well with Joshua coming in 1st in both of his heats and Ashleigh coming 2nd and 3rd.  We are now waiting to see if they have got into the national squad. Watch this space!!

"TURING'S WORLD" SHORT STORY COMPETITION

To tie in with the Alan Turing Centenary Birthday celebrations, Heriot-Watt University is offering an exciting short story competition for students aged 15-19 years and studying Mathematics and Computing.

Alan Mathison Turing (1912-1954) was an outstanding British mathematician whose pioneering work underpins much of contemporary computer science and artificial intelligence.
