BRUCE CHARTER ON DISPLAY

Haddington burgh charter issued by Robert the Bruce in 1318 is currently on display at John Gray Centre.

As part of East Lothian's Saltire celebrations the Burgh of Haddington Charter issued by Robert the Bruce in 1318 has gone on display at the John Gray Centre, Haddington. The Charter came back to the East Lothian archives last week and is the oldest document in the collections. It is now on display at the John Gray Centre until Wednesday 5 December.

TORNESS POWER STATION: APPRENTICESHIPS

Two Young Enterprise teams from Knox Academy, BottleItUp and Team Engage, will be attending the Young Enteprise Christmas Market at the Apex International Hotel, Grassmarket from 10 am to 3 pm tomorrow (Saturday 1st December).

Scottish Junior Championship for Swimmers with a Learning Disability

On Wednesday 21st November Joshua Nisbet and Ashleigh Lawson traveled through to Scotstoun in Glasgow to swim in the Scottish Junior Championships.They had a fantastic time against some fierce competition.  Joshua got through to the final of the 25metres Back Crawl and did a personal best of 31.84secs.  This was not enough to bring back a medal but an excellent effort for Joshua.  Ashleigh was in the final of the 25 metres front crawl and was piped at the post for a medal in this race.  Joshua tried hard in the final of the 50metres front crawl but the competition was very hard. I hope that you are all having a good St Andrew’s Day.  We have had numerous pupils turning up in tartan and younger pupils are also celebrating by having a Reading Hour in English (as good an excuse as any!).

We have continued to receive plaudits for the Business Question Time that was held last week – people are still congratulating the pupils on the interesting questions that they posed to a panel of local business people, and on the catering that was supplied by pupils from Home Economics afterwards.
