This composition started off as a piece for piano. My inspiration to compose it came from hearing James Galway playing ‘Annie’s Song’ by John Denver on the flute. After listening to it over and over again and falling in love with this song, I decided to try and compose my own short piece for piano, using the main melody as my starting point but altering it to make it my own. A good friend of mine suggested that I should try composing it for an orchestra, and I thought why not? I can always try and see where it takes me! Over time, I came up with new ideas, creating new rhythms and experimenting with them on different instruments.
