SWINE FLU - PARENT INFO

We have been made aware that there is now guidance on the parentzone website (address below) for parents and carers that are concerned about school closures and effects on the SQA exams by the Swine Flu outbreak.

SET YOUNG AMBASSADORS CHALLENGE

Kelvin Craig, Gareth Evans, Gabby Jackson, Conor McHugh and Fraser Thomson took part in the Young SET (Science, Engineering and Technology) Ambassadors Challenge this year ... and won!  This is a competition run by Edinburgh University and open to all schools throughout the Lothians.  The project brief that the team were given was to select an area of the school and propose a way of making a significant saving in the consumption of energy. ACTIVITIES WEEK - LUNCH

The Food Court is going to prepare packed lunches for the week of Activities Week.

The cost of a standard packed lunch is £1.80. These are available for anyone to purchase.

Pupils who receive free school meals will receive a packed lunch for the days when they are out of school.

Please collect before registration each morning.

LIBRARY

The school library will re-open to pupils from Monday 11th May 2009, and will be staffed on a rota basis by 3 ELC Librarians until Mr Plain returns. 

Opening hours will be :

  • Monday to Thursday: 8.30 am - 4 pm
  • Friday: 8.30 am - 1 pm

FOOD COURT

One of the major suppliers of food to the school has been affected by fire damage and therefore there may be some unavoidable alterations to the menu and food served in the Food Court over the next week or so.  Please be assured that the quality and standard of the substitute menu items will be maintained and meet all requirements.

ARCHES AWARD NOMINEE!

Congratulations to Mr Campbell, Drama teacher, who was recently nominated for an Arches Award for Stage Directors for his involvement in the production of the play 'Lockerbie' with the Random Act Theatre Company. 

This is the 4th time Mr Campbell has been nominated for this prestigious award.

GOOD LUCK TO S4 PUPILS

Mrs Craig and the staff of Knox Academy wish all S4 pupils the best of luck in their SQA examinations which start on Tuesday 5th May 2009.  Study leave for S4 pupils commences on the same day. 

Pupils wishing to come into school to study should sign in/out at the school office, and must be in full dress code. 

Pupils sitting examinations must also be in full dress code.

RWANDA VISIT

Head Teachers from Ecole Primaire de Ruhanga and Ecole Secondaire de Ruhanga visited Knox Academy and Kings Meadow Primary School from 20-24th April. The Haddington schools have a number of well-developed links with overseas schools and Knox has recently received a British Council International School Award for the second time – the first Scottish school to receive the award twice.
