SHOWCASE - 12 JUNE 7 PM

Academy Productions presents !Showcase! on Tuesday 12 June at 7 pm. An evening of classic and contemporary theatre, contemporary dance and musical theatre. Tickets £5/£3.

Act One - The Bald Prima Donna is an absurdist play by Eugene Ionesco. Performed by NC Acting & Theatre Performance students; this is their final assessment and are supported by the NPA Technical Theatre students.

The Contemporary Dance piece has been choreographed by S4 pupil Amie Cowan and performed by Amie Cowan and Sarah Gellatly. Read more about SHOWCASE - 12 JUNE 7 PM

JOHN LOCHART TROPHY

The John Lockhart Trophy was awarded on Sunday at the opening of the Haddington Festival.  The criteria is achievement against the odds.

The winner was Neil Howie, who was nominated by Mr Lambert.  Certificates were given to Calum Baillie, Ashleigh Lawson and Adam Linton-Main.

Chillax

This is another Prime Minister related entry.  I walked past a copy of the Times newspaper the other week, and was surprised to see the headline "The Chillaxed Prime Minister."  The story was about how the Prime Minister, David Cameron, makes sure that he sets aside time for relaxation.  The job of Prime Minister is not one especially associated with relaxation, but I am sure that Mr Cameron's approach is very sensible. This morning, as Activities Week draws to a close, all pupils are taking part in ‘R&R’: ‘Reflection and Reading’. Part of the morning was spent evaluating the activities and pupils have produced pieces of writing (poem, diary, story format etc.) based on their experiences of the week. Following voting and judging, the winning piece will feature in the Knox News and on the website. The rest of the morning was spent planning a sponsored read event and the pupils were ‘inspired’ by film clips of staff reading from their favourite books. Read more about 1 June 2012

EVENT FOR SUMMER LEAVERS

There is a ‘Youth Opportunities’ event for 16 - 24 year olds on Friday 15 June between 10am and 4pm.

If you are interested in finding out more about apprenticeships, college, training and jobs in Edinburgh there will be training providers, colleges and employers at the event who want to recruit young people this summer.

The Curriculum for Excellence Open Afternoon on Tuesday, for parents of pupils in S2, was well attended and I hope provided details and re-assurance regarding the plans for S3 in session 2012-2013.
