1 June 2012

This morning, as Activities Week draws to a close, all pupils are taking part in ‘R&R’: ‘Reflection and Reading’. Part of the morning was spent evaluating the activities and pupils have produced pieces of writing (poem, diary, story format etc.) based on their experiences of the week. Following voting and judging, the winning piece will feature in the Knox News and on the website. The rest of the morning was spent planning a sponsored read event and the pupils were ‘inspired’ by film clips of staff reading from their favourite books. Most of the residential trips have returned safely and we all look forward to hearing about their adventures and viewing the photographs. Once again, a very successful and enjoyable week, well done to all involved and a very big thank you to all staff who have taken part and a special thank you to Ms Duff and her team for organising the week. Details of all the events and trips will be available on the website.

The Parent School Partnership (Parent Council) met on Wednesday evening and the minutes will be available on the Parents’ website. Items discussed included Activities Week; staffing and end of term events.

The SQA examinations for senior pupils finished today and I look forward to seeing the results of their hard work and study in August.

To celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, the Scottish Government has granted permission for an exceptional closure for schools on Tuesday 5th June. As a consequence, I would like to confirm that Knox Academy will be closed to all staff and pupils on Monday 4 and Tuesday 5 June 2012. All pupils and staff resume on Wednesday 6 June.

Best wishes.
