16 March 2012

On Wednesday, the third (and final) of a series of visits by S1 pupils to the Seabird Centre took place. This week it was the turn of the Garleton pupils and they had a great morning at the centre (and were very well behaved and polite). The visits have been organised by the Science Faculty as part of the school’s Comenius environment project. Also, as part of this programme, we welcomed our Czech colleagues back to the school for further work on the project. Read more about 16 March 2012

Outwith

When you say something like "She lives outwith our catchment area," or, "This is outwith my control," you are using a Scottish word.  Perhaps it lingers from the old Edinburgh legal community, I don't know, but "outwith" is a Scottish word.  The same goes for "leet."  We talk about "the long leet," and the "short leet."  This too is a Scottish word.  Yes, news to me too.  Thanks to Graham Williamson from the University of Dundee for pointing it out.  (Interestingly, he also said that only people from Scotland say "I'm going to my bed."  South of the border there is no "my.")  Read more about Outwith

S4/S5 COURSE CHOICE BOOKLET

S4 and S5 pupils were issued with their Course Choice Booklet at an assembly yesterday along with their coursing appointment letter and a recommendation sheet.

It is the pupil's responsibility to get their recommendation sheet completed by their teachers.

The sheet must be completed and brought with them to the course choice interview as coursing for next year will not be able to be done without this.

The Senior Course Choice Booklet for 2012-2013 can be viewed here. Read more about S4/S5 COURSE CHOICE BOOKLET
