It’s up to us to take the long view because that’s harder for young people to do: it’s not just about now; it’s also about what’s up ahead and makes most sense based on the future job market.

EARLY LEARNING CHILDCARE CAREERS AND JOB FAIR - MARCH 2020

East Lothian Council are holding a careers and job event 10 am - 2 pm, on Saturday 7 March 2020 at Queen Margaret University.

The event focuses on the wide range of opportunities available in Early Learning and Childcare – including jobs available now.

It’s a growing sector – by 2020 the sector in Scotland will need up to 11,000 new recruits. Not all of these will work directly with children as practitioners, managers or childminders, but also in support services such as catering.

It’s a free event for anyone who has an interest in this area, or who would like to find out more.

A range of exhibitors will be there covering every aspect of the industry.

It’s never too early or too late to play a difference in shaping young children’s lives.

HMIE SCHOOL INSPECTION FINDINGS - FEBRUARY 2020

BEST START GRANT AND BEST START FOODS

The £250 Best Start Grant School Age Payment can be used for anything from a coat and shoes to books or days out. The application deadline is 29 February 2020, so don't miss out!

You can get Best Start Grant and Best Start Foods:

  • if your child is the right age for a payment
  • whether you're in work or not, as long as you're on certain payments or benefits
  • as long as you're the parent of a child, or the main person looking after the child

If you can get more than one payment at the same time

You only need to fill in the Best Start Grant and Best Start Foods form once to apply for all the payments you can get now.

If you can get one payment now and another in the future, you'll need to fill in a new form each time you apply.

PARIS TRIP 2020 PARENTS MEETING

This is to let you all know that there will be a Paris Trip meeting on Thursday 19 March in T1.1 (Miss McBride's Room) at 5.30pm. If a parent or carer is unable to attend please ensure that someone will collect all essential information for you.

Please also ensure that a photocopy of your child's passport & EHIC card (still valid until the end of December 2020) are brought to the meeting. If you have no access to a photocopier or scanner/printer these documents can be photocopied at the meeting therefore please ensure they are brought along so this can be done ( If you son/daughter does not have a passport please ensure that the process of applying one is started ASAP).

Lastly, please be aware that the two final payment installments are fast approaching : 28 Feb & 22 March. Please can you ensure that these payment deadlines are adhered to as we are now in the process of paying important invoices.

LOTHIAN NHS BOARD - NOVEL CORONAVIRUS LETTER - FEBRUARY 2020
