Dear Parents and Carers
As you will no doubt be aware, further strike action has been declared by the Educational Institute of Scotland (EIS), the Association of Head Teachers and Deputes Scotland (AHDS) and Scottish Secondary Schools Association (SSTA) in early/mid-January 2023. At this point in time we are preparing for the above action to go ahead and all services affected have discussed the impact that this action will have on the health and safety of our children and young people given that there will be a significantly reduced number of teaching staff, including those in leadership positions in our schools and Early Learning and Childcare settings. Please see letter issued from Nicola McDowell , dated 20 December 2022, for further details.
One week ago, Knox Academy held a Festive Fayre on Saturday 10 December 2022. The expectations were high! When the day came, everyone had the same ambition: to have success, fun and make a profit. I decided that everything I made was going to the “My Name’5 Doddie Foundation’’. The foundation is a charity set up by Doddie Weir, an ex-Scotland rugby player, and is all about finding a cure for MND (Motor Neuron Disease). MND is NOT a contagious infection that can be spread. It is a disease in which your muscles slowly waste away until your lungs fail, and you sadly die. This is a curable disease, but it is underfunded and with more money they may find a cure and possibly sooner. I raised £302 for this cause, and it is all thanks to every one that donated, took a flyer or even just saw the stand. None of it would have been possible without help from the My Name’5 Doddie Team and if you want to get in contact with them email info@myname5doddie.co.uk and check out their website My Name'5 Doddie Foundation | MND Charity. Every donation counts - thanks for your support.

Knox Academy are hosting a Career and Opportunities Fair on Wednesday 18 January 2023 – 6-8pm. Over 50 business exhibitors will be attending, and the full list can be found in this information leaflet.
Dear Parents and Carers
Further to the strike action declared by the EIS and the AHDS on 24 November 2022, the Scottish Secondary Teachers’ Association (SSTA) has announced that their members will take strike action on Thursday 8 December 2022. As this only affects our secondary schools, and the impact is dependent on schools’ individual circumstances, each school will have its own arrangements. Please see letter issued from Nicola McDowell , dated 30 November 2022, for full details of arrangements for Knox Academy pupils on this day.
