KNOX ACADEMY FORMS SPORTS COUNCIL

This week, Knox Acaemy announced the formation of a Sports Council. Pupils from each year were asked to apply for a place on the council, explaining their sporting interests, their ideas for the sports council and giving reasons why they felt they would be good to have on the council.

The following pupils have therefore been chosen as the starting members of the Knox Academy Sports Council:

S1: Gregor Hunter (1T3), Emily Russell (1T1) & Hannah Trotter (1L2)

S2: Roisin Kelly (2G3), Harriet Lomholt-Welch (2T1) & Charlie Riddell (2T1)

S3: Carla Jack (3T1), Innes Ogilvie (3G3) & Saimah Uddin (3G3)

S4: Katie Archibald (4T3), Aimie Cowan (4T3), Jack Hamilton (4T1), Eilidh McSPorran (4G3) & Connor Tinch (4G2)

S5: Kathryn Couperwhite (5T1), Ailish Kelly (5L1)

The group will be chaired by Head Girl Megan Richardson and fellow S6 pupil Hazim Kilic. The school's two Young Ambassadors Finlay Munro and Gabby Jackson will also form part of the team.

The council will run in a similar way to the existing pupils council, with the group meeting once a month with the focus on sport and physical activity within the school. Council members will be the link between school staff and pupils and we hope the council will give school pupils a greater voice to project their feelings on sport and physical activity within the school. We hope the council will allow us to improve what is offered at Knox to increase participation rates across the board.

Congrtulations to all pupils selected, who will be having their first meeting this Wednesday.
