Emma Campbell 6T2, has been taking her poetry skills to the next level by writing a lovely poem dedicated to her Higher Latin Class. As you can see there are some colourful characters!! Well Done Emma, cannot wait to see more.
Latin Class 2010-2011
Since my last poem my class has changed,
The classroom seems to have been re-arranged,
This class is made of mostly year five,
I don’t know them that well but I’ll give it a try,
What do I say? Where do I start?
Knowing their names is the easy part!
Morgan is the joker of the class,
If he went to the Underworld Charon would never let him pass,
Like Cerberus, Katie stands proud and tall,
If we were in trouble, she’d defend us all,
Jera is the only one, who was in my class before,
If he was on trial like Verres, he’d walk straight out the door,
Instead of sitting in Latin finding grammar not so fun,
Megan and Julia would rather be sitting beneath the Roman sun,
Oskar sits up the front of the class, being teased quite a lot,
If he was the pirate captain in Cicero, he’d gladly have us all shot!
Chloe and Meg sit together and love to have a chat,
They’d be good at the job which Cicero does, I can tell you that!
‘Tempis Fugit’ is a phrase which Finlay likes to heed,
He races through the classwork with elegance and speed,
Fiona and Emma sit up the back talking quietly,
Remembering the days translating from Ecce Romani,
Colin appears to be the at the brunt of Morgan’s jokes,
If he were like Cerberus, he’d snap at him when he provokes,
Kirsty is like the Sibyl in the story of Aeneus,
She is kind but also assertive, and is always happy to see us,
Miss Adam is still the teacher and is fantastic in every way,
She makes our Latin classes fun and exciting every day,
Well, look at that I managed it, I didn’t miss anyone out,
I hope I’ve let you see what Latin’s all about,
Wait a minute, what about me?
I’m just a simple poet, as you can see.
