Staffing
We are delighted to be welcoming Paul Goodall, our new Curriculum Leader of Numeracy and Computing, who starts on Tuesday.
Rights Respecting School
This week's Rights are related to Holocaust Memorial Day which is on the 27 January. Over the next two weeks classes are learning about history to create a better future. The focus is on the following articles of the UNCRC:-
Article 2 (without discrimination) - The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) applies to everyone; whatever their ethnicity, gender, religion, abilities, whatever they think or say, whatever type of family they come from.
Article 13 (Freedom of expression) - Every child must be free to say what they think and to seek and receive all kinds of information, as long as it is within the law.
Study Support for Senior Pupils
Scholar is a great programme to support study and preparation for SQA exams. The lastest programme, which runs fro February unitl May, can be accessed here. Pupils should also be attending the supported study classes, which take place at lunchtime or after school. These resources will support their attainment.
Parent Council
A quick reminder that our next meeting will take place this Tuesday, 28 January 2025. If you would like to join this meeting please contact the Parent Council by email, parentcouncil@ka-net.org.uk, so they can send you the link as it will be online. It would be great to see as many parents/carers as possible at this meeting.
PTA MEETING
This will take place on Tuesday 4th February @ 7pm Knox Academy School Library
We are a small group of parents who meet once a term to raise much needed funds for the school. During our upcoming meeting, we will be discussing our fundraising efforts for the Diversity evening in March and also planning for future fundraising activities.
As a few of our parents have children in S6, we will soon be losing their support, making it crucial for us to recruit additional volunteers to sustain the PTA and provide the necessary financial resources for the school. If you are available, we would be delighted to welcome you on Tuesday 4th February, in the School Library.
Teen Boster
All young people in S3 are offered the Teen Booster MenACWY and DTP vaccines on Monday 27th January and Tuesday 28th January at Knox Academy and Meadowpark, which protect against meningitis, diphtheria, tetanus and polio. These vaccines are given as an injection in the upper arm and provide longer-term protection against these serious and, in some cases, life-threatening diseases.
Young people who are eligible should have brought a consent pack home from school before the Christmas holidays. If you have not already done so, please return this form to school ASAP.
Please visit www.nhsinform.scot/chat-sign-protect for further information, including videos about why vaccines are offered to young people and what to expect at the vaccination session
