Assemblies

This week our assemblies have been about our forthcoming MacMillan Coffee Morning and how Houses can get involved in baking for this and raising money for a great charity. Pupils can also earn points for their House by becoming involved.

European Languages Week

Today (26 September) marks the European Day of Languages - a day for celebrating linguistic and cultural diversity. Throughout this week the Languages Department has run a variety of activities for our S1, S2 and S3 pupils and these have created a real buzz across the school and highlighted the importance of languages and explored different cultures and customs.

Rights Respecting Schools

The Right of the Week;

Article 7 - Name and Nationality (which ties in nicely with the European week of languages)

Children must be registered when they are born and given a name which is officially recognised by the government.  Children must have a nationality (belong to a country).  Whenever possible, children should know their parents and be looked after by them.

We have been discussing this right during registration time this week.

Study Support Timetable (in school by staff)

Our Study Support timetable is available here. Please encourage your young people to attend these – especially if they are in S4/5/6 and about to sit prelims and their SQA exams in April/May next year.

Macmillan Coffee Morning – 25 September

Thank you to all who baked and donated to this amazing charity. As a school community we have raised a whopping £435.92!!!!

Pupils’ Success Stories

Scottish Schools Mountain Biking Championships

Six Knox Academy pupils represented the at these Championships that were held at Comrie Croft on Tuesday 23rd September. This is the first time Knox competed in this event and all pupils really enjoyed the experience! Well done to Lucas Hardie (S2) who finished 14th out of 139 riders in the S1/S2 race. (by Thomas Salkeld, Active Schools Coordinator)

UNICEF

Our Rights Respecting School group and Book Fair Group ran a combined bake sale in aid of UNICEF and raised £172.34 which will now be sent on to this charity. Well done to all involved.
