The Secondary Orienteering Competition took place on Friday 2nd March at John Muir Country Park. Twenty S2 pupils were accompanied by Mr Ferriman and Miss Jeffrey of the Geography Department to John Muir Country Park.
A wonderfully clear day allowed for some high scores in the 35minute score competition for secondary students organised by the East Lothian Outdoor Learning Team.
Pupils from Ross High; Musselburgh Grammar and Knox Academy all made the trip and posted some excellent scores (see link- http://edubuzz.org/eloes/2012/03/01/orienteering-competition-2012/o-comp-2012-s2-score/). The winning school was calculated on the basis of the sum of the top 5 competitors from each school.
The total scores of the top 5 from each school are: Ross High – 2120 points; Musselburgh Grammar – 2480 points; Knox Academy 2550 points.
Knox Academy are the 2012 winners of East Lothian School’s Secondary Orienteering Competition!
Special mention must go to the fastest individual times however – Danny Gillies (male) from Musselburgh Grammar School – 540 points and Robbie M (female) from Knox Academy 530 points. With Mr Ferriman scoring the highest total for East Lothian Secondary Teaching Staff!!
Well done to all involved - the Championship Trophy will be on its way to Knox this week!
