S2/3 pupils who are not going on a residential trip during Activities Week were issued with their package choices booklet today (which can be viewed below). Pupils should make three choices and return the choice form to the School Office by Friday 18 November. There are several packages to choose from and some may not run due to low uptake. Once the forms are returned, pupils will be allocated to packages. Lists will be displayed in school and information will then be provided relating to payment etc.

Following the success of last year’s event, Knox Academy is hosting the 2nd annual EcoLife event on Thursday 1 December 2011 from 7 - 9 pm.

Ecolife

EcoLife aims to make you aware of simple steps that can be taken to reduce your carbon footprint and increase awareness of local Eco Charities and Companies.

There will be stalls providing information, activities and items to purchase with live music and entertainment provided by pupils. Exhibitors and sellers include: Tagua Designs; Sue Ryder Care; The Bead Shop; Dunbar Community Bakery and the Scottish Seabird Centre. This is a great opportunity for some Eco-friendly Christmas shopping!

The highlight of the evening will be an Eco Fashion Show where pupils and teachers will model clothes from local charity shops!  We will also have an interactive ‘How Green Are you?’ quiz.

Entrance is free and refreshments will be on sale.

We look forward to seeing you there!

I am delighted to announce that following the notes of interest submitted last month it appears that we have sufficient interest to run the Entrepreneurial Sciences tour to Florida in October 2012.  As mentioned previously, the trip is a 7-night / 8-day adventure to Florida, with strong Science and Business Studies themes.

The trip itinerary has been planned by our tour operator Visions in Education, to give a once in a lifetime, special experience during which we can explore marine and ocean sciences, ecology, physics, technology, horticulture, space sciences, tourism, economics and native history.

Those who have expressed interest should now ensure that their initial deposit of £150 is returned by Friday 2 December.  A copy of the letter previously issued can be viewed here including the full proposed itinerary.

It is important to note that the school is no longer able to accept cheques made payable to the GP Fund.  All cheques (for all activities) must now be made payable to East Lothian Council.
