The 2020 Scottish Space School @ Strathclyde residential Summer School will be held at the University of Strathclyde from 15-19 June 2020 and applications are now being invited.

Now in its 17th year at the University, the Scottish Space School continues to inspire the next generation of engineers and scientists and is aimed at S5 pupils in Scotland currently studying Maths and Science subjects at Higher level. 

Applications must be made online and  further information can be found on the University of Strathclyde website.

Good Morning

This year for our Christmas charity drive we are asking pupils (if it is possible) to bring a donated item into registration that will be collected and donated to the East Lothian Foodbank Scheme. If any item could be in school by Friday 13th December this will allow us to arrange uplift to the Foodbank. The Foodbank have provided a list of Christmas themed items they are looking for.

At the Dream Bigger Conference this Thursday, you will be given an notepad and writing materials to use throughout the day.  Although you will not need to bring materials for other subjects that day, please make sure that you have a bag to take home your notepad and any other materials you may receive.

You will be sitting at a conference table throughout the day.  Please ensure you check which table you will be sitting at.  Lists of name will be on the wall outside the back door of the hall from Wednesday evening. It is important that you sit at the correct table throughout the day.

For S1-S4 who missed the meeting about the trip, all pupils attending A Christmas Carol theatre trip on Friday 13 December 2019 in Edinburgh, please meet at rear carpark, next to field, ready to get on coaches immediately after registering with your registration teacher.

Buses shall leave at 9am sharp and shall return to Knox between 1-1.15pm. Please ensure you are wearing full uniform to represent Knox smartly. Full list of pupils attending is up in the drama corridor; please see Miss Whitfield or Miss MacDonald if you have any questions.

If you are attending netball this Wednesday (11th Dec) please sign up on the PE office door so your name can be added to the in-school tournament we will be running on Wednesday. Please do this by Wednesday lunch time for team's to be made up in advance of the session. Please note: the session will be extended through to 5pm for all year groups.

On Thursday 12 December 2019, all S5 and S6 girls should attend a full-day conference run by the Royal Bank of Scotland and Nat West Bank.  The aim of the conference is to help develop a growth mind-set.  The focus will be on digging deep, knowing yourself, meeting challenges and finding out ways to be innovative – ultimately supporting young women to reach their potential. You will also have the chance to make contacts with staff from the banks and there is the potential for future opportunities and support for those who want it. Please register for period 1 and make your way to the hall at 8.55 a.m.  Normal breaks and lunchtime will take place.  The planned finish time for the conference is 3.00 p.m. when you should go back to your p7 class.

The LGBT Youth Group (Alphabet Group) held in Dunbar are arranging a Gaylidh on the 10 December 2019 at the Bleachingfield Centre in Dunbar. Christmas Dance tickets will be on sale in the foyer (next to the trophy cabinets) on Tuesday 10th, Wednesday 11th and Thursday 12th December at BREAK TIME.  The tickets cost £3.  Pupils who ordered Halloween Photos will also be able to collect their pictures from Mrs Leighton at the same time.

Madhatters Young Enterprise Company are participating in this year’s “Sleep in the Park”, on Saturday 7 December 2019, to raise awareness and help eliminate homelessness in Scotland.  If you wish to support this cause please approach one of the team to make a donation.

Mr Gilhom has kindly agreed to accompany Andrew Syme, Donald Bathgate, Ciaran Young, Catriona Wrinn, Eve McBain, Asher Borthwick, Finn Samuel, Niall Holman for the Sleep Out.

Biology pupils going on the trip to the Museum on Wednesday 4 December 2019 must return completed Parental Consent forms to Mr Boyle today (Tuesday)

Remember to plan travel to and from the museum in time to meet at 9.45am. Event finishes at 3.30 pm.  Please wear full dress code.

At S1 Parents Night on Wednesday 4 December, the Eco-Committee will leave its uniform rack in the front hall for parents who would like to take additional uniform items for their children. There is no charge for taking any items - the goal is to support families and to reduce clothing waste!

There will also be a donation box for anyone who would like to donate uniform items to us. We are accepting all sizes of blazers, white shirts, black jumpers, trousers, and skirts. Please ensure that uniform donations are clean before bringing them in. As a reminder, no hoodies will be accepted as these are no longer part of the Knox uniform.

The Knox Academy Christmas Concert will take place on Wednesday 11 December 2019 at 7 pm. Tickets are available Monday 2 December 2019 for performers, then general release on Wednesday 4 December 2019. £5 or £3 concessions.
