As most of you will know, this month is Pride Month. Pride is a vital time for those who are part of the LGBT+ Community as it is a time to celebrate their identities and share their experiences.
The LGBT+ Allies group will be continuing their annual tradition of having a Pride week at the school. This year it will be on the week commencing Monday 15th June, and last until Friday 19th June, with plenty of fun, Pride-themed activities taking place each day.
- During Monday lunch time in the library there will be a collaboration between the Knox Academy student newspaper club and the LGBT Allies group tackling “What is Pride?”.
- On Tuesday at the same place and time there will be a “Read With Pride” event, where participants will take part in a discussion on queer fiction and non-fiction books and get information on a Heartstopper related reading challenge.
- Wednesday lunchtime there will be a Pride Party in Ms Fletcher’s classroom (T1.1, Modern Languages).
- Thursday lunchtime in the library there will be a Pride bracelet/sign making session.
- To round off a jam-packed Pride week on Friday there will be an opportunity to wear something rainbow in addition to your school uniform to show your support to the LGBT+ community, and at break there will be a bake sale, the profits of which will go towards Knox’s Pride fund. If you would like to bake for the bake sale please email Ms Fletcher at lfletcher@edubuzz.org or Ms Stobie at nstobie@edubuzz.org and let them know what you are planning to make.
The LGBT+ Allies group is looking forward to celebrating Pride with you all in a fun and memorable way!
