AW DECOR is offering an exciting Apprentice Opportunity for a motivated young person looking to learn and develop new skills.

We are a small close-knit company, who specialise in domestic/commercial painting and decorating.

Most of our work is in Edinburgh and surrounding areas.

Requirements:

  •  Aged 16–17 years old
  •  Keen to learn and develop within the role
  •  Punctual, reliable, and committed
  •  Positive attitude and willingness to work

No previous experience required — full training/ work clothing, overalls etc will be provided.

The Coursing Information Event for next year's Timetable will be held on Wednesday 7 January 2026.

It will be held in the Assembly Hall from 6:30-8:00pm and is open to the parent/ carers of pupils in S2-5.

There will be a general overview of the Curriculum and the Coursing Process as well as presentations about college courses and Apprenticeships (Foundation, Modern and Graduate).

Those pupils receiving Achievement Tie Awards (Endeavor Certificate, Half Colour Tie or Full Colour Tie) will be awarded them this Thursday (18 December 2025) at the start of Period 3

Registration teachers have been emailed (if they have a successful nominee) to inform those pupils this applies to.  Can those pupils register with their Period 3 teachers before coming straight down to the canteen area where they will be met by Mr Clark, Mrs Falconer and Mr Russell.

On Friday 19 December 2025 we would like to invite pupils and staff to dress down/wear something festive to celebrate the end of term. For those who can, we would encourage pupils and staff to donate to Lammermuir Larder, in support of our recent work with this charity. Any donations should be handed in at registration on Friday.

From January 2026, our S1-S3 BGE PE lessons will begin the annual Cross Country block. This is always a highlight of the year and an excellent opportunity for you all to build your fitness, resilience, and enjoyment in the outdoors.

To ensure you are comfortable and able to participate fully, we ask that you come appropriately dressed for winter conditions with items such as:

  • A warm jumper or sweatshirt

  • Jogging bottoms or leggings

  • A waterproof jacket if possible

  • Suitable change of footwear ie. trainers

This block will also prepare you for our House Competition as well as the East Lothian Cross Country event at Foxlake that takes place in February. We are incredibly proud of finishing as close runners-up for the past two years. We are excited to continue this tradition and hope you will enjoy both the training and the competition!

On Friday 19 December 2025 the PE department invite you to join us for our annual end of term ceilidh. Please register with your Period 1 or Period 2 class, and then if you wish to dance, please make your way down to the PE department. Otherwise, you should remain with your class teacher.

Period 1: S1-S3 (S6 also, if you wish to help)

Period 2: S4-S6

The changing rooms will not be open, so please leave any bags/jackets with your class teacher that will be collected at the end of the ceilidh.

Our S3s are busy creating their YPI Presentations at the moment.  As part of this initiative they have to raise £500 so will be having a bake sale on TUESDAY 16 December 2025.  Please support them by bringing cash to school with you and buying their tasty treats at Break time next Tuesday in the foyer.

Flu vaccinations for all pupils, who have returned a consent form, will take place in Knox Academy Library on Thursday 11 December 2025.

Pupils will be advised by their registration teachers on Tuesday/ Wednesday that week what period they should attend for vaccination on the day.

If you do not consent for your young person to receive the vaccination, please remind them that they should remain in class.
