All pupils have now been assigned a questionnaire to complete for PE via. Google Classroom.

The task itself will take no more than 10 minutes to complete, and will allow us to plan moving forward, and also to self-reflect.

It would be asked that you please complete this by Friday 4th September. Please see your PE teacher if you have any questions.

As you’ll be aware, the Scottish Government has announced that, from 31 August 2020, face coverings should be worn by young people attending secondary schools when they are moving around the school in corridors and confined communal areas (such as toilets, social areas, PE changing rooms) where physical distancing is particularly difficult to maintain.

Full details are available in a letter from Lesley Brown (Head of Education and Children's Services)

All PE classes will continue in the classroom for Monday and Tuesday. Practical classes with resume on Wednesday. Please ensure you come prepared for the following changes:

  • Please follow the one way system  - you should only enter PE if it is on your timetable.
  • Change of kit - this includes a change of footwear and if you wish, an additional jumper/rain jacket.
  • All classes will be outdoors - this is due to the current restrictions we are under: please come prepared! *This includes pupils who are unable to take part temporarily too!
  • Registration spots - some of these have changed, make sure you know where you are to go at the beginning of the period.
  • Changing rooms - your teacher has allocated spaces for you to change in, please make sure you know where this is.

We hope that these are only temporary measures but we've done our best to make this as normal as possible!

Are you aged between 16 and 19 and considering remaining in education? If so, you may be entitled to an Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA).

If you are aged between 16 and 19 and have left school but are not currently involved in education, employment, training or volunteering, you may be able to take part in an Activity Agreement.

An EMA is a weekly payment of £30 paid directly to eligible young people who are continuing in post-compulsory education (i.e. beyond the age of 16) or have left school and are taking part in an Activity Agreement.

Further details are available on the East Lothian Council Website.

Applications are processed on a 'first come, first served' basis. While payments may be delayed until later in the school year, approved applications will be backdated to the start of the term if they are received by 30 September 2020 (for those eligible for the full year award) or by 28 February 2021 (for those eligible from January 2021).
