Lammermuir Larder

This is a reminder that we are collecting for the local foodbank - the Lammermuir Larder.

The deadline for items is the end of this week.  If every teacher and pupil brings in one item it would make a big difference so please bring in

non-perishable foods (e.g. tins, cans and packets but nothing fresh which could go off).

Thanks so much

LGBT+ PRIDE WEEK IS HERE!
16 – 22  June 2025

Let's celebrate love, identity, and inclusivity with a full week of events for LGBT+ Pride! Whether you’re part of the LGBT+ community or an ally, everyone is welcome to come along, get involved, and show their support!

Here’s what’s happening in June:

Monday 16 June & Tuesday 17 June– Sign Making in the Library
Drop by the library to create colourful, empowering signs for Edinburgh's Pride Parade on Saturday, make one to brighten up our corridors or take home to display in your own home and show your support!

Wednesday 18 – Pride Party!
Join us in Ms Fletcher’s room for joyful lunchtime festivities

Thursday 19 – Bracelet Making in the Library
Craft your own pride-themed bracelet to wear with pride or share with a friend. All materials provided!

Friday 20 – Pride Bake Sale at Break (Social Area)
Celebrate the end of Pride Week with a sweet treat – swing by the social area at break for rainbow cakes, cookies, and more. All proceeds support LGBT+ initiatives in our school!

You don’t need to be part of the LGBT+ group to take part – allies and newcomers are warmly welcome at every event!

Let’s make this Pride Week our biggest and brightest yet!

Why Pride Matters:
Pride began as a way to stand up for the rights of LGBT+ people. In June 1969, a group of people in New York City fought back against unfair treatment in an event called the Stonewall Uprising. This moment sparked a movement, and the first Pride marches happened a year later to demand equality and celebrate LGBT+ identities. Today, Pride is a time to honour that history, support each other, and celebrate the right to be yourself.

Take some time in registration to watch this video on the Stonewall Uprising.

The library currently has a large number of books overdue. These books have been borrowed but not yet returned. We are hoping to get as many back as possible and need everyone's help.

Please check in classrooms, bags, and at home for any library books. They are usually easy to spot as they typically have labels on their spine, are wrapped in a plastic covering, and have a barcode and stamp on the first pages of the book.

Every book that gets returned to the library from now until June 23rd will equal one entry into a prize draw. The draw will take place on 24 June 2025 with the winner receiving a goodie bag of prizes before the summer holidays.

Good luck and happy hunting!
