The School Library is looking for a dedicated team of pupil librarians to help with managing our library stock, creating eye-catching displays and helping to keep the space neat and tidy. 

If you love reading and want to make a difference to the school then pop in and speak to Miss Robertson at the library desk.

REMINDER: The Library is open on Wednesday and Thursday from 8.30am - 4pm and Friday from 8.30am - 12.15pm.

Since 2019 Knox Academy has recognised achievement in school based extra-curricular and non-school based wider achievements through the award of Achievement Ties.  The Achievement Ties committee meets twice yearly to discuss nominations and allocation of Achievement Ties. There are two categories of Achievement Tie that can be awarded 'Half Colours' and 'Full Colours'.  

Nominations are now open and can be completed through a Google Form.

For information on eligibility for the awards please see the Achievement Ties 2024 document.  There will be a virtual assembly for pupils during registration from S3 members of the Achievement Ties Committee in due course informing pupils about the awards and how they might achieve them. 

The deadline for the first of two nomination periods this academic year will be Friday 29 November 2024.  Any applications received after this date will role on to the next meeting of the committee in March 2025.

All S1's are able to attend the Knox Dance Show on Thursday 31 October 2024. 

On Thursday you should  register with your Period 7 teacher and then come down to the assembly hall immediately. 

The show will be collecting donations for "Young Lives vs Cancer Charity", this will be given directly to their house in Edinburgh, called Ciaran's House, it gives young patients and their families a place to stay in whilst on treatment there. 

We will enable you to donate what you can, as we go through the week and also on entry to the show.

The Poppyscotland team will be going round classes on Monday 28 and Tuesday 29 October with poppies for this year's Poppy Appeal. We will have a card machine but please remember to bring some money with you to support this very worthwhile cause. We will also be in Tesco this weekend and next weekend. Thanks, Mr Flood.

A new debating lunch club is starting and will run on Wednesday lunchtimes. There will be debating games, projects and fun topics starting with a Nightmare Before Christmas themed debate:

  • Should Halloween land host Christmas?

 Any S1-3 girls who would like to be involved at an inter-school rugby games festival at Meadowmill this Friday at Meadowmill (25/10/24) - please attend a short meeting at the start of break tomorrow lunchtime (Wednesday 23rd October), for more information. 

This is highly recommended to those who enjoy team sports, such as netball and bench-ball - as the festival will involve games such as Hawick Ball and variations of touch rugby.

The Knox Christmas Concert will take place on Thursday 12th December 2024. There will be a Matinee Performance with P7 and Care Home guests during the school day and then a ticketed Evening Concert 7-9pm.

AUDITIONS: There will be one solo/duet/band slot in each half of the concert and if you would like to audition for these please email mmiddlemiss@edubuzz.org by Friday 1st November.  Audition times will then be arranged.

The rest of the programme will be jam packed with lots of variety...Knox String Quartet, Knox Orchestra, Knox Jazz Band, Knox Choir, S1 Christmas Choir, Pipes & Choir Collaboration, ODDSOCKS, Goats' Toes Folk Group, Knox Guitar Group, Knox Dance Group, Knox String Group...

The Music Department has found the new booking system for practice rooms really helpful - it's been wonderful to see so many students using the spaces.

The current booking system will run for the remainder of this week and then anyone who would like to book a space to practise at either Break or Lunch (October- December) can book a space with Mrs Middlemiss on Thursday 24th & Friday 25th at Break.

R3 Repairs, Haddington are looking for an apprentice to work within a small team based in a busy office environment. 

Every day is different in the Planning Team! You will be involved in planning work for our operatives – joiners, plumbers, electricians etc, in their electronic diaries, taking calls from customers and booking jobs in with them and communicating with our social housing landlords’ teams by phone and email. Other things you could be doing are working with spreadsheets, organising training courses, fuel cards, workwear and generally helping out the management team with admin.

The Essentials Hub is located in the Social Area and is open to all students in the school. The Breakfast Club runs from there every Monday and Thursday morning. If you've missed breakfast or need something for break, head down between 8:00-8:25 to pick something up.

The hub also has spare uniform, stationery and hygiene products. If you need anything, it will be open Wednesday break time and during Wednesday period 4 for anyone to come down and find support from Mr Welsh who will be based in there during those times.

The Lammermuir Larder is our local Food bank and it is looking for donations before the October Holidays.  (Friday 11 October 2024)

This is a plea for each regi class to collect non-perishable items such as cans, packets and jars (things which can't go off so no fresh fruit and veggies)

Thanks so much for your support of this great cause.  Donations can also be given to registration teachers (these can be handed in at the office)
