Anthony Nolan 'sign up and swab' day is fast approaching - TUESDAY 17 DECEMBER 2024.  All S5 & S6 pupils are invited to take part and put themselves on a database that could help save a life.  All that is asked is you complete a registration form and get a swab taken (cotton bud in your mouth).  That's it!  You can change your mind at any time if you no longer wish to be a part of this - so what have you got to lose?

The Knox Anthony Nolan Champions will be coming round senior classes over the next couple of days inviting you to sign up to a time slot that you can pop down to the library on 17th December.  There will be a team of staff from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service on hand to take your swabs and answer any questions you might have - but you need to sign up first!

Do something selfless - sign up and swab!

Thank you in advance,

The Knox Anthony Nolan Champions

Whilst Mr Balfour's Video Games Club has been incredibly popular over the last few years, running this biweekly has also become increasingly challenging. As a result, at least for now, the Video Games Club will not run from Tuesday 10 December 2024.

Computing Club will still run on alternating Tuesdays at lunchtime for those who want to use the computers during lunchtime.

The Knox Christmas Concert will take place on Thursday 12th December. There will be a Matinee at 11:30am (p7 & Care Home Guests) and an Evening Concert 7-9pm.

The S1 Christmas Choir (The whole S1 year group!) will rehearse Period 4 on Wednesday 11 December 2024 and should go straight to the SOCIAL AREA after Break.

S1 class teachers will meet you there to complete the register and you'll be arranged into practical sets and singing parts so we can walk onto the stage in order.

We need to be ready to open the Matinee show at 11:30am the next day so this is a very important practise. Please be on time and assemble very quietly.

If you have signed up to sing in the Evening Concert then you must remain in the hall and we will rehearse the whole of period 5. An email with timings etc has been sent to your parents/guardians and your name has been given to the office to excuse you from period 5.

"Every 14 minutes someone in the UK is diagnosed with a blood cancer"...  Hopefully, that has got your attention.

S5 and S6 pupils were invited to attend an assembly about the Anthony Nolan Initiative in the very recent past - this was to tell you all about the possibility of you being able to help save someones life.  A stem cell transplant from a stranger (someone like YOU) could be a person diagnosed with blood cancer's only hope.  We are asking that you join the stem cell register by attending our event on Tuesday 17th December.  We will be coming round classes next week to offer slots to come along to the library and 'sign up and swab'.  That's it - all you have to do is sign a form so the NHS can get in touch with you if you are a match AND get a wee swab from the inside of your cheek (its a cotton bud rubbed along the inside of your mouth).  If you match with someone they will get in touch, but if you change your mind about donating at this point, that is ok!  You are not committing to anything at the moment so what have you got to lose?  You could make a HUGE difference.
