Information

If you wish an update on your young person’s progress please contact the House Team, who will then link with staff to collate information for you. Please do not contact teachers directly as we need to ensure their focus, on a day to day basis, is learning and teaching. The House system ensures a coordinated approach to supporting our pupils and links with parents/carers around all support for them. Thank you.

Uniform Consultation

All parents/carers should have received a link to a Knox Academy Uniform Consultation last Friday and a huge thank you to the 401 parents/carers who have completed it so far (quite a number being primary school parents/carers). There are a lot of views on this and it would be good to have all parents/carers views represented, so if you have still to complete it, please do as we need all views to make an informed decision (looking for a 60% return at least) – this is a really pivotal point for the school in terms of next steps. This survey closes on Sunday at midday. All pupils have been surveyed and staff are also being surveyed. If you wish to read the Scottish Government guidance on school uniform you can access it here.

School Improvement Planning for Session 2026-27

Parents/carers should have received an email from me on Monday asking you for your support in completing a questionnaire which will help us identify the key aspects we need to focus on next session. By us all working together we aim to ensure we support all of our young people to achieve their full potential.

Thank you to the 75 parents/carers who have already responded, and I do hope you will all manage to complete our questionnaire by Friday 13 March. The more responses we have ensures we have a true representation of our school community’s views and what you believe are the important aspects we need to focus on to continue to improve – even if you feel things are ticking along fine it is good to hear that too.  Your views are very much valued and we have used these in previous years to help guide the school’s direction.

Pupils and staff are also being asked for their improvement ideas. Once we have feedback from all groups we will look at these collectively and extract the main themes to focus on to help us on our journey to excellence. I will also report back to you about the findings from all groups and our plans for next session.

Rights Respecting Schools (RRSA)

Our Article of focus this week is Article 23 - Children with disabilities

Every child with a disability should enjoy the best possible life in society.  Governments should remove all obstacles for children with disabilities to become independent and to participate actively in the community.

Deaf Awareness

In the run up to Deaf Awareness week in May, we are introducing a 'BSL Sign of the Week'.  Each week, there will be a new sign and a deaf awareness fact shared with every class, and they will be encouraged to use it in their everyday life!  The first sign is 'how are you?' and will be shared with classes on Monday morning alongside their fact of the week.

Did you know that BSL is a language in its own right?  It was legally recognised as a language in 2003!

Well done to Kira Mihhailova (S2) who competed in the British Gymnastics Qualifier 1 for TeamGym with her team Youth Level 3.
