Have you considered volunteering?  Some great reasons to volunteer if you are able can be viewed in the links below.

Parents/Carers: The ongoing social, academic and emotional success of our pupils relies heavily on the amazing network of parents and carers. Volunteering at Knox Academy could be the key to success (for us all!). You might think you don’t have anything to offer, or that someone else is better fit to volunteer their time. We can achieve anything within the community with committed volunteers.

Pupils: Volunteer work presents a great opportunity for you to prepare for the future – whatever that may entail. It helps develop community both within Knox and the wider Haddington area. Developing leadership skills boosts Confidence, Organisation skills and your Employability. High school students who volunteer have an advantage over their peers when headed off to the work place, University or College

Last Wednesday Knox Academy Girls SOR had their first rugby development match against Leith Vixens at Haddington Rugby Club. For many Knox girls this was their first venture in to full contact rugby and there were a few nerves! Leith were playing their 8th competitive match so it was al;ways going to be a struggle for the Knox girls. The match was played in great spirits with both teams playing open rugby and putting on a great display for the supporters who had braved the cold winter night. Leith came away worthy winners but the Knox girls can be extremely proud of their performance with some great displays and some big hits! The girls head coach L.Borwick was very impressed with the effort the girls put in she and the girls are looking forward to their next match.

If any S1-S3 girls are interested in joining girls rugby it is held on a Thursday 4.30 -5.30 at Haddington Rugby Club speak to Miss L. Borwick for more details

Kayaking resumed this week and I volunteered my services to support two of our pupils – Jack and Declan on the River Tyne.  I was delighted to see how confident these two boys were on the water.
