Hi everyone! This week we celebrated National Coming Out Day on Tuesday 11th October. As a result, we have shared LGBT Youth Scotland's Coming Out Guide with every pupil via email.
This Coming Out guide was co-produced with LGBT Youth and young people aged between 13- 25 who are trans, non-binary or are questioning their gender identity. It covers questioning your gender identity, how to come out in a way that is safe for you and how to explore the world of gender expression, gender dysphoria, healthcare, and your rights. It was written for trans and non-binary young people, but you may also find it useful as a family member, friend, or ally of a trans person.
We hope this is useful and remember, the LGBT+ Allies Group are always accepting new members! We meet every second Wednesday in Ms Stobie's room. Our next meeting is the first day back after October break - Wednesday 26th October.

Our Community Kitchen are hosting an '80's Disco Night' on Saturday 15 October 2022 to fundraise for the charity. They are looking for around two or three pupils from Knox Academy to help out on the night. It would be from 6.30pm until 10.30pm and would require general help such as collecting donations from guests.
Our Community Kitchen do a lot of hard work to support Haddington and the local area, so this is a fantastic opportunity to give back. This is also a great thing to put down on UCAS applications, CVs or to work towards a saltire or Duke of Edinburgh Award.
If you are interested please Email ka17opirie@edubuzz.org with your class, year and a small statement on why you would like to help out.
Hi, it's Lauren and Oscar, its been a very busy start back to the new term and we hope everyone is feeling settled in. As some of you may know its World Mental Health Day this Monday (10/10/22) and as the Head Pupil Leadership Team we want to share some resources to help anyone who is struggling with their mental health. One resource we really recommend is Mind , Mind is an amazing resource full of information on how to cope with different aspects of your mental health, but also shows you that you are not alone, it has resources to offer help to those who are supporting someone with mental health problems too. We would also like to direct you to the ‘Mental Health and Well Being Information’ section on the school website which can be found under the tab 'School Info', we very recently updated this with the help of our school Mental Health Councilor Michael.
The theme of 2022's World Mental Health Day has been set by the World Federation for Mental Health is 'Make mental health and well being for all a global priority'. Mental Health is hugely important to us as a school, World Mental Health Day is also a chance to talk about mental health in general, how we need to look after it, and how important it is to talk about things and to reach out if you are struggling. As prelims approach for our senior pupils, we understand first-hand how stressful they are, please take care of yourself and allow yourself some ME time too!
Could all S6 pupils please attend a quick assembly on Tuesday morning during registration, this will be to go over all prom information so if you are wishing to attend prom please make sure to come along.
