Our Material World (Part 2)

The Building Blocks of All Matter

The 26 letters of the alphabet allow us to make up every word in the Englsih language. Similarly just a few building blocks allow us to make every different object that you can see around you and even some you can't see. This topic introduces us to the tiny particles that make up all substances. We learn how they can fit together to give us so many different materials. Sometimes materials can join together to make even more substances. We then discover what happens when we mix solids and liquids and what happens if we heat this mixture up. Can you add too much of a solid? What would happen then? We finish off this topic by finding out different ways to separate mixtures to see if we can get back what we started with.

Use the materials below to help you at home if you are absent from school, needing help with homework, revising for your test or have an interest in what you will be doing next in class.
