What Materials Are Made Of
This topic starts off looking at where planet Earth fits into our solar system and highlights the differences between the planets that makes up the solar system and the huge distance from the sun out to the outer edge. From there we look at what the Earth is made from and the different rocks that exist and how they were formed. We continue to study what things are made of by looking at everyday objects and splitting them into groups depending on how they look and behave. Scientist are often grouping similar items together and trying to find out what they have in common. We then move onto a smaller scale and discover what all materials are made of. It's hard to believe as you look around you that everything is made of tiny particles that fit together. How do they behave? Are all particles the same? what happens if you heat them? Are they stationary or do they move. These are the questions that you will find the answer to in this topic.
